Float Therapy

"My husband has been a heart patient his entire life because he was born with a bad heart valve. Between the stress of November 30th, multiple funerals, extra hours at work, the rise in vivid numbers, and a shortage of corrections officers, his blood pressure has been extremely high for the last couple of weeks. Medication and removing caffeine from his diet wasn’t helping so I scheduled him for float therapy. I’m happy to report that float therapy was definitely worth it. His blood pressure went from 167/96 to 134-77 , he said the 2nd half hour in the tank was the first time he hasn’t thought about the shooting since it happened, and he’s been sleeping soundly for almost 3 hours now. He even said the pain in his shoulder and hip is gone."

  • As means of reducing stress people are disconnecting from everyday distractions through floatation. Floatation therapy is a form of sensory deprivation therapy through floating which helps you to achieve profound relaxation by eliminating all sources of discomfort. Floating in our float orb involves floating effortlessly in a large spa-like pod containing an Epsom salt (magnesium sulfate) solution heated to skin temperature. Your journey begins as you open the door to your float tank and lay inside. The high concentration of Epsom salt allows you to float effortlessly, giving you the sensation of weightlessness. When the lid is shut the absences of light, outside noise distractions and the diminished effect of gravity causes a state of relaxation.

  • Is floating scary?

What if I am claustrophobic? The space inside the floatation tank is 92”x56” so you have lots of room. You are in complete control and can open the lid and go in and out as you’d like. You can even float with the tank open. If you are unsure, please come in for a tour and to speak with a wellness coordinator.

    How often should I float?

While you can float every day without harm, we find the relaxing effects of a one-hour float typically last beyond that day. For best results, we recommend regular sessions, and many clients find that floating once or twice a week provided the most benefits. If using floating as a type of self-therapy, we often recommend starting with at least 7 sessions.

Are there any size limitations for floating? You can not be over 7ft tall or exceed 500 lbs.

Do you need to wear anything in the tank?

It is a private experience, so most people don’t wear clothing. You will have the room to yourself and will be required to shower before and after.

Can I drown in a float tank? While it is possible to drown in any pool of liquid, float tanks are much safer than other bodies of water because they contain a high concentration of salt. This water is buoyant and supports your body by pushing you to the surface. Rolling over in a float tank requires a conscious effort, unlike in your bed. Many people safely sleep while floating.

How are the tanks kept clean and disinfected?

There are 1000 pounds of medical grade Epsom salt dissolved in each of our tanks. Salinity is above 1.25 grams per cubic centimeter. The higher and higher the salt concentration, the lower and lower the ability for microorganisms to thrive in the water. This automatically gives floatation tanks a leg up on cleanliness when compared to public pools and hot tubs. Unlike other float tanks, our float orb is equipped a micron filtration system that filters particles from the water. The Micron Filtration System`s filter is able to filter particles from the water to 1 micron in size and is FDA compliant for drinking water (Class 1 Filtration). Standard competitor pool and spa filter cartridges only filter to 20-30 microns and require regular cleaning.

    • You will shower with shampoo and body wash before you get in the float tank, and you will want to shower after you are done floating to get the salt off.

    • It is not necessary to wear anything when floating.

    • Do not schedule if you recently dyed your hair in the past 2 weeks if it's a traditional color, 4 weeks if it's a fashion color (such as blue, purple, etc.) If you wet your hair and wipe it on a towel and the color comes off that is a good indicator not to float.
